SING! In Your Face entertainment is pleased to bring a groundbreaking new collaboration of cabaret-style theatre to Montreal’s Theatre scene with "SING!" by triple-threat theatre aficionado, Nadia Verrucci, and her ultra-talented cast of local singing, dancing and performing artist sensations. The triple-threat cast includes: Michelle Heisler, Nadia Verrucci, Devon Wilkinson, Chris Barillaro, Maxime Bégin, and Jonathan Patterson.
With a selection of songs sure to tickle any Broadway baby, this show is poised to bring a new wave of talent and audiences alike back to English Montreal’s musical theatre scene. Choosing a medley of obscure, contemporary and some familiar tunes from fan favourites such as: Guys and Dolls, Chicago and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, the cast of SING! will have you dancing and singing along in the aisles. The audience will be sure to leave the show singing their favourite tunes from Chicago, West Side Story, and Spamalot, just to name a few more!
Overall a very enjoyable production that takes on some brave and bold choices in it's selection of material. Not taking the easy route many of the songs although from very famous musicals the songs selected were not always the most famous hits. I really enjoyed the narration, both the comedic delivery, tone and also the eclectic background information that was delivered between numbers and added in smoothing out the transitions. I didn't care for the three quarter thrust (3 sides) seating, which distorts not only the frontal view of the choreography but also muffles the sound; it was difficult at times to hear the guys which is frustrating in a musical. The piano playing of both Chris Barillaro and Maxime Begin was exceptional however, making up somewhat for not always being able to appreciate their vocals.
Staged and choreographed by Nadia Verrucci. Accompaniment by Chris Barillaro and Maxime Bégin. Recordings orchestrated by Chris Barillaro. Additional choreography by Jonathan Patterson. Stage manager & lighting design by Lucy Segal. Photo by Cedric Leclere.
The Segal Centre for Performing Arts - The Studio at 5170 Cote-Ste-Catherine, Montreal. Performances: May 27 @ 8 pm; May 29 @ 9:30 pm; May 30 @ 2 pm. Tickets: $15/$20 (CASH ONLY) For box office reservation: 514-845-0908
